About · The Nomad’s Eye

Morocco, photographed slowly.

Nomad’s Eye began as a way of looking, long before it was a camera. It means moving through Morocco without rushing it, and noticing what most people pass by. The photographs are simply what that way of looking leaves behind. Even the mark was drawn to say it. Read it slowly.

FIG.The mark, read part by part

  1. i · The outer ring

The road always comes back around.

A nomad’s route is a circle, not a line. You leave, you return, you leave again, and every time the same places look a little different. The thin outer ring is that road: patient, unhurried, never really finished.

  2. ii · The inner circle

    The eye, before the camera.

Inside the road sits the eye. Not the lens: the way of looking that comes first. The camera only follows where the eye has already stopped, on the light on an old wall, or a hand on a rope.

  3. iii · The horizon

A line you learn to read.

Nomads read the horizon the way others read a map: for weather, for distance, for the right hour to set out. Below it is ground you have walked. Above it is everything still waiting to be seen.

  4. iv · The sun

    Never centred. Always rising.

The sun sits a little off to one side, the way real light never lands where you planned it. It is the moment worth waiting for: the quiet after a long day in the desert, when Morocco turns gold for a few minutes and then lets go.

Nomads never own the land. They learn to read it.

The idea behind the name

A day on the road

Follow the sun.

Every shoot is planned around the light, not the clock. This is where it takes us.

  1. Agafay31.45° N · 8.21° W

    First light

Before the camp wakes up, the stone desert turns the colour of rose water. We start early, because this light never waits.

  2. Medina31.63° N · 7.99° W

    High noon

When the sun is too hard for open ground, the alleys become the studio: cool doorways, shade, and light falling in narrow slices.

  3. Atlas31.14° N · 7.92° W

    Golden hour

The best twenty minutes of the day. Faces soften, walls glow, and everyone forgets there was ever a camera.

I started Nomad’s Eye to share Morocco the way I see it: slowly, up close, and through the people who make it what it is. Most days you’ll find me on the road with a camera, between the medina, the mountains and the desert. If you’re coming this way, I’d love to show you the side of this country you’ll remember.
